Culture and the Fertile Crescent

Students will spend the week beginning our new unit on the Eight Traits of Culture and the Fertile Crescent.

On Monday, students completed a Preassessment concerning the Eight Traits of Culture. On Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, students will work to preview the basic facts of the civilizations of the Fertile Crescent. We'll also complete activities that focus on the geography of the Fertile Crescent, timelines, and we'll identify the different cultures that had an impact on the Fertile Crescent. We'll also create a Mnemonic to help us remember the Eight Traits. On Friday, students will have a brief quiz to ensure that they know their Mnemonic, and that they can name the Eight Traits of Culture. We'll talk more about this in class over the coming days.

On Thursday, we will welcome the Guidance Department to our class, where they will be presenting the Power Sources lesson as part of Red Ribbon Week.

Speaking of Thursday, it's also STOKES Night. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to meet their counselors again, chant their chants, sing their songs, and watch the debut of the STOKES 2018 Video. STOKES Night begins at 7PM in the LCJSMS Cafeteria.

Have a great week!
